The following competitions are up and running (hopefully, if this page is up to date, if it’s not then the competitions posted here will generally be annual, so I’m sure it’ll be back up next year).

A new competition, launched in 2011. Hold my hands up – it was launched by a friend of mine, but nice prize money and there aren’t too many competitions offering prize money and free entry.

Competition Details

Entry Fee: None, free

Genre/type: Short story. Must be fiction (cannot be science fiction, fantasy or children’s)

Word limit: 1,000-5,000

Prize: £500 prize pot – split 1st : £300, 2nd : £150, 3rd : £50

Deadline: 15th September 2011

Other: One submission per person.

 

The Aye to Zeee Short Story Competition

Launched by sociallyacceptable. No prize money of any kind but kudos if you complete a story, huge kudos if you complete a ‘Pure’. Details here.
